Approval to Import 25,000 Sheep and 300 Calves from Romania
Kuwait Livestock Company has received approval from the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources to import 25,000 sheep and 300 calves from Romania, helping to meet part of the local market’s needs.
Why Now?
The market is seeing a clear rise in meat consumption, while supply is sometimes limited, which affects prices. Through these shipments, the company aims to provide enough lamb and beef to keep prices affordable for everyone.
Strict Health Requirements
- Full inspection of the livestock before purchase by a specialised, trusted veterinary team, to make sure they are free of disease and injury.
- Compliance with locally and internationally approved standards for quality, weight and safety.
- An accredited team representing the company in the supplying countries to check the safety of pastures and feed.
- Choosing shipping vessels that meet health and safety standards, with a veterinary team travelling with the shipment and monitoring it at every moment.
Diverse Sources
In addition to Romania, the company imports sheep from several countries, including Naimi sheep flown in regularly from Lebanon at about 2,000 head per week, believing in the importance of public and private cooperation to secure Kuwait’s food security and prevent artificial price increases.
The company thanks the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources for its efforts in removing obstacles and following up on veterinary checks at every stage, to protect everyone’s health.
