Despite COVID-19: 8,000 Sheep and 200 Calves from Romania to Kuwait

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, with lockdowns, curfews and shipping disruptions around the world, Kuwait Livestock Company kept working to secure meat supplies for Kuwait. The company finished loading the vessel “KARAZI” at the port of Constanța, Romania, with a shipment of 8,000 sheep and 200 calves bound for Kuwait.

Shipment Safety First

Before loading, the company made sure all safety procedures met local and international requirements. Its team inspected the pastures and the feed given to the livestock, and the necessary veterinary checks were carried out to ensure the animals were healthy in every respect.

Right on Time

The company followed a shipping plan that brings the livestock in the shortest time and at the lowest cost, timed with the start of the holy month of Ramadan, when demand for meat rises, to keep meat available for citizens and residents and to support food security in Kuwait.

Food Security in a Time of Crisis

This shipment came at a time when global supply chains were disrupted by the pandemic. It confirmed the company’s commitment to supplying the local market and keeping prices stable, and reassured citizens and residents that meat remained available despite the circumstances.

Upcoming Shipments

More shipments will follow from Romania, Armenia and Lebanon, once the medical checks are completed and shipping vessels that meet livestock health and safety requirements are selected.

The company thanks all the relevant state authorities for their efforts and close oversight at every stage, so that products reach consumers safely.
